SORCO is available for school visits for students of all ages. These interactive learning modules have been written by professional educators and are designed to educate students on the important role Raptors play in our eco-system. The program is designed to complement the classroom curriculum.
Potential presentation/discussion topics include:
- What is a Raptor?
- Types of Raptors in BC
- The role of birds of prey in our lives
- Habitat & threats
- Conservation ideas
- How SORCO helps
- Bird anatomy
- Students may have the opportunity to meet “Houdini” our Ambassador Great Horned Owl
Maximum number of students is 30
On-Site Educational Tours
On-site tours are available for schools, organizations & clubs interested in Raptor conservation.
The tour would include visits to various facilities:
- Medical Centre
- Food Centre
- Eagle flight pens
- Education Centre
This visit could also include viewing rehabilitating birds & some hands on activities.
Maximum number of visitors is 40
Community Group Visits
SORCO also provides custom presentations for community groups, such as adult education classes, environmental interest groups, youth groups, seniors, and service clubs.
