The SORCO residence has recently received major improvements to the heating system. Accent Fireplace Gallery in Penticton donated a high efficiency wood burning stove; Valley Comfort donated the chimney; Westminster Rentals donated scaffolding; and White Knight Heating performed the installation.

A mature Great Grey Owl was found on the side of the road near Fintry. Its face was covered in blood and it could not fly.

Andra of Killiney Beach, just North of Fintry, was out hiking & she noticed a Bald Eagle down in a gully & it was having difficulty flying. She recognized this bird was in serious distress.
She called the Conservation office but they were occupied & unable to assist in his capture.
Andra called SORCO & they gave her instructions of what to do. She called the North Westside Fire Department & they were able to capture the Eagle safely.

Media Release: Friday, June 19, 2015 (Oliver, BC)
Sometime during the night of June 6th or the early morning of June 7th, someone broke into the SORCO property forcing open the front gate.
“There was no evidence that the person(s) entered the main buildings,” said SORCO manager Dale Belvedere. “However, the individual(s) did get into the food centre where we raise rats as live food for the raptors. We know that, because two days later most of the rats were dead.”

Thank you for attending the 27th annual Open House on May 3rd, 2015. We hope you enjoyed the festivities, meeting the SORCO supporters and viewing the displays and various rescued raptors.

It happens just once a year. Hundreds of friends and supporters of SORCO (Raptor Rehab Centre) will gather at the annual Open House. It is the only time that the general public can visit the SORCO facility, which is located nine km north of Oliver, BC at 8965 Highway 97.
Sunday, May 3rd (10:00 am – 3:00 pm). Be sure to mark this date on your calendar. Bring along your family and tell your neighbours as there are always interesting things to see and do and fascinating people to meet.
